CityNews serves as a clearinghouse to bring housing information together under one Internet site.
The Property Search is geared toward the needs of community developers and housing advocates and aims to lower their transaction costs of obtaining parcel based data that are needed throughout the affordable housing development process. Many of the data available on CityNews are publicly available through various city, county, state or federal government agencies. CityNews has eight major databases that it draws its information from. These include; Tax Information, Violations, Housing Court, Fire Information, Water Arrears, Tax Sales, Census Information, and Sales Information. The information in this section are provided in tabular format.
Single Building Search
Search for a single building using either the address or the PIN ID.
Area Search (Multiple Property)
The Area search of CityNews enables the user to pull all listings from the Fire, Code Violations, Vacant Lots, Housing Court, Annual Tax Sale and Building Tax Class databases for a particular Ward, Community Area or Address Range.
How many housing code violations are there in your community area? The Aggregate Statistics search option allows you to see how your community area, ward or zip code compares to others in the city.
Note: The Interactive Mapping component of CityNews is currently only available for Chicago.
